Back-to-school season is just around the corner and can be a stressful start for both students and teachers. Here are just a couple of steps students can take to help the 2024-2025 school year manageable.
Track Work with a Planner
Keeping a calendar helps students plan ahead, but it can be much more than just a homework tracker. Mark up the semester with extracurricular activities, work, tests, school holidays, social commitments, and set different goals to achieve daily, monthly, and by semester. A school planner can be a great place to break down parts of a huge project to see step-by-step how-to spread-out tasks to lessen the stress load a huge project can create.
Create a Routine
Students should plan their days around school, work, extra curriculars, homework, and time they can take for themselves to relax and destress from the day. Students need to find what time works best for them to help manage workloads and have a wind down routine before bed to help be refreshed and ready to learn the next day. Some ways to wind down can be watching a show, writing or journalling, or spending time with friends and family.
Designated Study Space
A study space will offer a controllable and comfortable learning environment. Whether at a library or a certain room in a students’ home, having a designated study space helps with focus and lessons outside distractions. Students can turn their phones on silent during study time and have a list of homework assignments in front of them to help eliminate distractions and retain information better.
Keep from Procrastinating
Stopping procrastination is easier said than done. It’s easy to put off studying or doing an assignment, especially when it is challenging. Procrastination can cause unnecessary stress and can make schoolwork sloppy when rushed. Planning ahead using a planner and sticking to a routine can help stay away from procrastination and help from getting behind on assignments. Breaking down larger assignments into smaller tasks can help lighten the stress load and be able to use time management to work on it piece by piece.
